Step 3 of 6 - Completing Contracting on SureLC

Time to begin getting appointed with the carriers.

Please read this in its entirety before starting

Contracting with the carriers is the most important aspect in ensuring we can get you into the field in a timely fashion. Appointing with the carriers takes 1-2 hours, and takes approximately 7-12 business days to hear back

 

We want to make sure this is completed properly the first time around.

Please read this in its entirety prior to you clicking on the contracting link at the bottom of this page! Skipping any steps here will delay your ability to get out into the field. 

 

BEFORE YOU START YOU WILL NEED 

 

  • National Producer Number (NPN) - found on the NIPR website (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

  • E&O Insurance -  you can get this HERE. Select "Option B" when in the website (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

  • Voided Check - if your account does not have checks click here 

  • Contracting with SureLC must be done on a computer, NOT YOUR CELL PHONE

  • Watch this 3-minute tutorial to familiarize yourself with the SureLC System: (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

  • If you think at any point, there will be something that comes up in your background check or credit check you will need to write a letter of explanation. You will also need to include any copies of court documents if you have any charges on your record. You can upload these items to the system directly and add any explanations necessary. 

  • Check that you are using the correct email address! A mistake here will delay appointments and cost a lot of time to fix.

STEP 1. CREATE ACCOUNT

 

Follow the link (at the end of this email or from HCMS) to register your account.

 

If you were previously contracted with another IMO on SuranceBay, you must use a NEW email or it will not come to our team. 

 

*Select New User and Create an Account* 

 

For the Upline field, put the name of the agent who brought you on.

Your upline's name is in the Step 3 email that contained the link for this page.

 

Your page will look like this

 

 

 

STEP 2. FILL OUT APPROPRIATE FIELDS

 

On the left hand side you will see 11 Tabs. Below is some hints to help with each:

a. My profile - Fill in your info

b. Doing Business As -  Select individual and no to the next two questions

c. Bank Info – Fill out your info (need a voided check - click here if needed

d. Licenses – Should auto populate (if you just got licensed this may take a few days)

e. FINRA – If you do not know what this is, select NO

f.  Questions – fill out and answer appropriately

g. History - Leave blank

h. Training - ONLY NEED AML. Multiple carriers will have your complete their own AML trainings. LIMRA will also be taken care of at a later date. For now, click on “add training” and complete the free SureLC training.

i.   E/O – you will need to purchase if you do not have, we use NAPA 

j.  Signature – Complete your agent profile and electronic signature (here is a helpful guide for completing signatures Producer Signatures)

k. Profile Documents – be sure all are uploaded (there is a drop down labeled “filter by type” which shows everything needed - archive any duplicates that populate by clicking the 3 dots next to the document )

STEP 4. COMPLETE CONTRACTING REQUESTS  

AFTER double checking that your information is correct.

AT THE BOTTOM CLICK CONTRACTING REQUESTS. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Click “create request” for each of the 4 carriers individually and submit!  Most of the work is done for you but some info is still needed by the carriers individually.

FAQ: When you get to the "New Business" questions, leave it blank. Below that, "Beneficiary" must be filled in with who would get your commissions and renewals if you died. Below that, pay frequency is "DAILY". 

STEP 5. DOUBLE CHECK AGAIN

 

Once you have completed these steps, the carrier requests should all be "AT BGA" for 24-48 hours. Check back to make sure they have moved to "AT CARRIER" If they are, you are DONE with SuranceBay.

STEP 6. SET AN ALARM TO CALL THE CARRIERS IN 2 BUSINESS DAYS

 

Check SuranceBay 1-2 days after submitting contracts to be sure that on the “contracting requests” tab, your apps are NOT in the BGA tab. Once your applications are in the carrier tab, you can consider your work on SuranceBay complete, now we need to follow up with the carriers. 

 

It is the agents responsibility to follow up with the carriers to ensure they are appointed with a writing number. Approximately 5-7 days after submitting the applications YOU will want to check the status of our applications. You can find the carrier information here

 

You will receive a “writing number” which signifies you are ready to sell their products!
